Hello everyone! I hope you are all are staying safe! I talked about this subject a little bit on my Instagram stories the other day, but I shared how these past couple of months have been a huge wake up call for me to try to become a little more self efficient/reliant when it comes to things around the home. (And ya know… because not being able to find desired food items in stores! haha). So I decided with this extra time at home that I want to learn how to make a few more things at home!
I know we can’t make everything the store has, but we can make lot’s of things at home!
And a huge bonus… we know everything that’s going in them! Which makes them better+healthier for us and our families.
So one thing that I notice goes fast is bread. I know sometimes bread can be time consuming but it doesn’t have to be! This recipe is simple and easy to make, even if you’re not a baker!
Now I am cheating a little and baking this in my bread maker (YOU CAN FIND THE LINK FOR THE BREAD MAKER HERE!), but if you don’t have a bread maker (although I highly recommend you get one-changed my life! haha), you can still use this recipe! You’ll just have to let it rise and bake it the ol fashioned way!
Homemade Soft Bread Recipe
Ingredients: (Makes one 2 lb loaf)
- 310 ml Water
- 3 Tbsp Butter softened
- 1 tsp Salt
- 3 Tbsp Sugar
- 5 Tbsp Dry Milk
- 4 Cups Flour
- 1 tsp Yeast
Directions if you have the machine:
- Add all ingredients into bread maker (or mixer). Make sure to add them in the order that is listed (first water, butter, salt etc.)
- Select menu 2, 2lbs, and select light, medium or dark for the crust. Press start and your done! It does all the kneading and rising itself (it takes about three hours to cook).
Directions if you don’t have the machine:
- Add all of the ingredients in a mixer and let it rise (until it’s doubled in size), punch it down, and let it rise again. Bake at 375° until golden brown and bread sounds hollow when tapped or has reached an internal temperature of 200°, 30-35 minutes. Remove from pans to wire racks to cool.
And your done! So easy and simple!
P.S. This bread goes well with Honey Butter or Jam, is SO good!
Enjoy!
XO, Jamie
