Hello everyone! Ok so I am a BIG advocate for skin care! If you know me personally, you will know that I have had acne for YEARS. For that reason my skin is my BIGGEST insecurity. I have struggled with adult acne for over five years and it’s really taken a toll on my confidence. I have gone to dermatologists, taken medications, and all the works. It did work… for a while. As soon as I stopped taking the medications my acne would return. When I got pregnant, I had to stop taking them cold turkey and of course, my acne returned full force. If you have ever been pregnant, you know the list of medications you can take during pregnancy is very limited. So I thought there HAS to be something that I can do for my skin while I’m pregnant! It’s a long story, but comes to find out that I had been going about my skin care all the wrong way. I finally branched out and did some of my own product hunting and research. I am SO glad to say that my acne is almost gone and WITHOUT having to go to a dermatologist or take medications! And the best part? They are all drugstore products!
Now before I get into it, I have to note that EVERYONE’S SKIN IS DIFFERENT! These products may not work for you. I used to think that skin products had the same effects for everyone but that is defiantly not true. What may work amazing for me might not work the same for you. I have very dry skin, so some of these products might not work for someone who has oily skin. I don’t know if this is common knowledge, but It is really important to find out your skin type and use products that cater to those!
But I wanted to share these products I use because I know that I was wishing for someone to just be REAL with me, and not just trying to sell me on something. So with that being said, here is my skin routine, no sponsors, no ads, just me recommending good products and being REAL!
(*Note that I have all my product links and pictures below!)
In the morning it’s really simple, I use this face by L’oreal or the Cetphil gentle skin face wash. Lately I feel that I need to switch them up sometimes because my skin gets ‘used’ it. After that I use this moisturizer from Aveeno before I put my makeup on. (I am a HUGE Aveeno advocate!). Make SURE you are using a moisturizer, especially with the L’Oreal face wash, it tends to dry out your skin.
As for my nightly routine, I use this micellar water from Garnier to take off my makeup. I used to use the Aveeno make up wipes but the micellar water is so much cheaper! (just make sure to shake it up REALLY good!). After that, I put this on as my night moisturizer. Be warned this is a very moisturizing night mask cream, some people said it was very strong and they could only use it a couple times a week. Yeah, mine is so dry I have to use it every night! Haha. If you only buy one of these, pick this one!
However, 2-3 times a week I will use this L’Oreal clay mask. You guys SERIOUSLY, this is the holy grail!! This product is SO good at soaking up the pollution and oils from your skin you can literally see it (especially on your nose!). If you live in Utah where the air pollution is terrible, you need to at least try this. As soon as I take it off I can tell the difference, my skin is brighter and feels super clean. It gets really good reviews on amazon too! But I always make sure to put on moisturizer because like the face wash, it can be drying.
This next one I just recently added to my skin routine. About every three days I use this Microdermabrasion treatment at night to help renew my skin and help with the scarring. This is dermatologist recommended and had great reviews, my husband got it for me for christmas from amazon. I know it is a little pricey, but I can tell just after using it for a little over a month, my scars have gotten so much better! It is SO simple to use and it takes two minutes to do your whole face and neck. It guides you through which areas to do and for how long. I would strongly recommend you only use it at night, as it does make your face pretty red. Also, to make sure you use cold water to wash your face afterwords. Sometimes when I have time, I also like to use a jade roller. It feels really good after and helps with the redness. After that I put my nightly moisturizer on and that’s it!
That’s really all the products I use. I tried all of these on a whim and I’m SO glad I found them. That being said, these products didn’t magically help overnight. It takes consistent effort and it has been a year and it’s still slowly but surely getting better. But if you’re like me and you’d rather not have to go on Acutane or take medication, you can try these! What do you have to lose right?
I hope this helps you all! I know it can be so frustrating and stressful so just know you are not alone! Please feel free to ask me any questions you may have!
