Hey everyone! I am SO excited to share this post with you all! I have been working on this for quite sometime and I feel that now that I’ve done this for a while, I’ve finally gotten the hang of what you need for an organized Pantry!
I’ll not only be sharing tips and tricks in this post, but I will also be sharing what products/food containers will help you achieve your organized dream pantry goals!
Let’s get started!
1. Start with pulling EVERYTHING out of your pantry
This might seem like a given, but it’s truly an essential step to get everything you have out in the open! That way when you are organizing your pantry items, you’ll be able to pair a like items together much easier, and without forgetting anything.
You’ll want to do this step BEFORE ANYTHING ELSE! Even before buying your containers. It’s much easier to buy your containers at once. Then you’ll know the sizing and exactly how many containers you’ll need.
PRO TIP: Write a list and what containers you’ll need for example:
- Flour-Large (container)
- Crackers- small
- Snacks- bins
2. Choose your Containers
This step is fairly straight forward, but this will be the most expensive part of your project, so you’ll want to spend a good amount of time deciding on these! You’ll want to take everything (or as much as you possibly can) out of it’s original packing into these containers to make it look uniformed. This will make a big difference in the look of your pantry! Once you have everything pulled out, then you can start deciding on which Pantry Containers you will need.
(PRO TIP: You don’t have to, but I would highly suggest buying containers that are similar to make your pantry tie together.)
This is what I recommend for most peoples general needs for containers will be fit into these categories.
You’ll need:
- Air Tight food Containers (in various sizes)- For dry goods like rice, pastas, cereals, flour, sugars, etc.
- Baskets/Bins– For smaller things you can group together like chips, popcorn, granola bars, snacks, breads, candy, etc.
- Spice jars (large&small)- For spices large and small
- Oil/sauce Dispensers– For Oils, vinegars, extracts, etc.
- Produce bins/baskets– For potatoes, onion, etc.
- A last but not least- A system for Canned goods: (whether that’s rollers, or just having a space in your pantry to stack them!)
Recommended air tight containers:
THESE WILL BE FOR THINGS LIKE SNACKS, BAKING ITESM, PASTAS, CEREALS, POWDERS, ETC!
(PRO TIP: Lot’s of times you can find XOXO containers for much cheaper at your local Home goods or TJ Max.)
(PRO TIP: You can usually find these cheaper in stores, make sure to check you local Walmart, target, or home goods!)
Recommended Baskets/Bins:
THESE WILL BE FOR THINGS LIKE BOXED GOODS, CHIPS, CRACKERS, CUTLERY, ETC!
White Storage Bins with handles (and/or) Multi-Purpose Bins
Clear bins with handles (THESE ARE GREAT FOR SNACKS!)
Clear Bins For Drinks/canning/snacks
Spice Jars Recommendations
(PRO TIP: I would recommend putting your spices in a drawer if you can! I have a whole blog post HERE on how to do that! It’s better than having to store them in your pantry since there are so many.)

3. Label Label Label!!
Ok now it’s time to get to the fun part! Now that you have done the ground work, ordering your labels should be a breeze.
I love labeling because this is what really ties all of your containers together. They can really dress up your pantry in a whole different way. It is such a cute simple way to organize and it will make your pantry come to life!
I tell this to people all the time… LEAVE THIS UNTIL THE END!
I know that it’s tempting do this first, but I would recommend doing this last! Of course you can always order more later if you need to, However it will save you time and money to order them all at once. Once you have everything in their containers, all you have to do is go through your pantry and write all of you labels down!
Now I may be a little bias… But I have the CUTEST labels!
BYJAMIEJUNE ETSY LABELS

4. Organzine You Pantry with purpose
Now that you have everything labeled and organized, Next you’ll want to think about WHERE you’ll want to place your items in your pantry. I would organize them with these tips in mind.
- Keep things you use all the time in easy to access places! This will mostly likely be the shelf that is eye level. For example, I get to my kids snacks and cereal a lot so they are at my eye level. (TIP: I don’t know about you guys, but I like how my toddlers can’t get them on their own, they have to ask! That can’t get full on them before dinner!)
- Keep larger Heavier items on/near the bottom. This would include things like canned goods, flour, sugar etc. Things that could really hurt someone if they fell from a high place!
- In addition, keep light weight items on top! if you have high shelves keep lighter things like chips, popcorn, candy, and etc on the top shelf!
Extra Tips to Keep In Mind
- Turntables are your friend! These are great for spices, oils, or canning goods that tend to get lost! I love this OXO turntable on amazon!
- Make sure you can see everything! If you can’t see it most often times you will forget about it and it won’t get used. You can use these tiered shelves to help you see everything.
- It will help you save money with groceries! Keeping your pantry organized will help you know exactly what you will need for your next shopping trip. You will instantly know how much you have or need with a quick glance. I love this grocery list pad.
And thats it! You should have a perfectly organized pantry!
I hope this post was helpful to you all! I know that it can be an overwhelming project but these steps will help you get through the process, and even make it fun! Please be sure to leave any questions or comments in the comment box below! Thanks for dropping by!
